Notebook is an app that we love for writing and journaling on the DC-1; that’s why we included it on the home screen! Here are some tips to help you get started.
The Basics:
From left to right:
Pen Menu:
- Tap to select the pen. Tap again to view a menu where you can adjust the pen’s thickness or choose a texture (pencil, pen, or marker).
Highlighter Menu:
- Tap once to use the highlighter, and tap again to open the menu to change the thickness or color.
Eraser:
- Simply draw over any mistakes, and they’ll disappear as if they never happened. Alternatively, use the button on the side of your stylus.
Text Box:
- Creates an area where you can type in the Notebook. Highlight text in the text box to access additional formatting options.
Selector:
- This tool allows you to move, resize, or even turn handwriting into text (see instructions below). Use the Selector by drawing a circle around what needs editing.
View-Only Mode:
- When selected, no edits can be made, and you can review your notes without accidentally moving anything.

Advanced Tips
Stylus mode
- Select the most right icon at the top. It looks like a wrench.
- Select the “Stylus” and toggle on or off as desired.
- When stylus mode is on, you can only use the stylus to write. When stylus mode is off, you can use your finger or stylus to write.
Convert to text
- Use the selector tool to draw a circle around your desired text.
- Tap the three vertical dots when the options bar comes up.
- Select “Convert to Text” and from here you are able to copy to your clipboard or convert to a textbox in Notebook.
Organizing / categorizing your notes
- To categorize your notebooks:
- On the home screen of the app, tap the top left Icon. Then tap the icon with the folder and plus sign.
- Here you are able to make a new category to keep different notebooks under one name.
- To rename your notebooks
- Tap and hold your desired notebook. Then select “Rename”.
- Type any name you would like to change the original to and press “UPDATE”
